6. OPEN ARM HIP SWING

PURPOSE:
To losen the hips and exercise the legs, and ultimately feel ch'i flowing in the arms.
鬆胯活腿﹐運氣兩掌之間。

MOVEMENT DESCRIPTION:
Move the hips from left to right and vice versa as if you are swinging a big basket embraced in yours arms.

STEPS:

  1. Keep feet apart in parallel with a distance wider than the shoulder width, and bent knees
  2. Two arms reach out to form a big semi circle in front of the chest
  3. Move you hips to swing the body left and right for about 36 times
接前式,跨左足外肩齊,身微蹲、目平視,兩胳膊平舉前伸與雙肩齊,但略下沉肩, 雙手心相對,十指鬆張、雙目微笑著。兩胯開、兩足栽地,兩手如抱大球狀。轉胯 不轉腰﹐以軀幹搖動雙手,先左而後右。「軀體玲瓏、渾元一體、周身爽快、妙景 漸來」。外丹功老同道屆五年者,已授五指通心功,跟將授乾坤樁,清虛中來、神 妙異常)。藉身體擺搖,活動全身穴脈,使氣血暢通,筋骨舒適、心情快活。搖簸 箕其狀如篩米也。迎風走冰之式,本氣貼背導引法,因顧及氣貼背導引其部位氣血 凝有滯濁,故乃以搖簸箕之法而以濟之。軀幹搖動時兩腿栽地。

NOTES:
It's important to keep the upper body above the waist still, particularly the arms and the shoulders. Only turn the hips, not the waist. When swinging to the left, straighten the left leg while keeping the right leg bent. The head follows the turn and eye at the mid point between the hands. Likewise, straighten the right leg, look at the right when turning to the right side.
